Master Key Experience – Week 2

On a Journey With the Subconscious

The Subconscious Mind- what it is, and what it does

Here are a few dictionary definitions of the term “subconscious mind”-

  • that part of the mind which is on the fringe of consciousness and contains material of which it is possible to become aware by redirecting attention;
  • relating to thoughts and feelings that exist in the mind and influence your behavior although you are not aware of them;
  • type of mind which is responsible for one’s thoughts and feelings; the seat of our principles and aspirations

The “conscious” or “objective” mind, the one we’re most familiar with, deals with impressions and objects of the outward life. The subconscious, on the other hand, controls the regular functions of the body which make physical life possible: breathing, blood flow, the building of bones, etc., and is a storehouse of everything we ever learned. This ability, by the way, is why people are able to recall such vivid details while under hypnosis.

How It Works, and Can it be influenced?

Haanel writes in his book The Master Key System that the subconscious “directs our thoughts, tastes, and accomplishes tasks so intricate that no conscious mind, even if it had the power, has the capacity for.”

In another book we are reading, the author speaks of the subconscious as “my other mind, that mysterious source that never sleeps, which creates my dreams, and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend.” We are told that the subconscious mind can be influenced (more on this to come). Let’s leverage the subconscious. We can then have it working for us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This will help us achieve our goals, dreams, and desires.

Let’s use a metaphor here such as the subconscious mind being like a piece of good land. The ground doesn’t care if we plant thistle or corn. We can till the soil, plant seed, water and fertilize it, and it will grow. It will return to us what we plant.

We can plant good habits and good thoughts into our subconscious. They  can be the things we intentionally place there, or ones that have been placed there by the world around us. It doesn’t care one way or the other. It will return to us what we sow.

Why Should We Care

I want to be the author of this particular journey, and can be. I have goals, dreams, and desires (most of them given to me by God) and I want those to be manifested by my subconscious. Not to just settle for a life dictated to me by the world outside of me.

A friend of mine sent this video to me the other day. I believe it is a great example of how Les Brown was able to use the power of his subconscious mind. He changed his past and present circumstances at the time, to ultimately become what he wanted this future to be.

Every week on this journey, we build on what we have experienced and seen from the week before. We change from who we are into who we know we can be. Continue with me on this journey. Be sure to fill out the form below to get your free copy of the 7-day guide to a new you!

    Hi, Mark! Your blog over friend, Loren, here. By George, I think you’ve got it! Understanding the subconscious mind is an important piece of the puzzle that determines its proper utilization. Looking forward to reading more, as you turn thoughts and feelings into beliefs, and those beliefs into the actions that bring you what you truly want. Great post! 🙂
